The West Haven Youth Lacrosse 3/4 Lightning went 4-0 in the annual CONNY Tournament. The Lightning were led by goal-scoring machines Rocco Kelly, Charlie Gunning, and Jeremiah McGrath. Colin Whelan, Shea Outhavoung, and Dante Antonucci led the way with multiple assists, as they passed the ball up to the field to help put the goal scorers in positive positions. Shawn Gilbert was also indispensable on defense, coming up with several big stops
Defensive duties were split between Andrew Hogan, Anthony Parise, and Ethan McGrath, who all came up big to keep their opponents from getting quality chances and to help the Lightning go undefeated. Ethan Dion was a wall in goal, picking up big saves in all four games in the winning weekend effort.
The K-2 Blue Devils traveled to North Haven Saturday morning, coming away with a close 7-5 win in a very even match. Brady Salkins used his speed after catching a pass from Jax Guarino to blow past a North Haven defender and score.
Ben Trenchard was pivotal on both sides of the ball, working hard to create open space on offense and closing down space on defense. Benjamin Peretz and Graig Uzarski both hustled after every ground ball, while Jadey Hill and Aron Guichard both played well on defense.
Emmett Hemming started several attacks as he won the majority of face-offs he took, one of which he took the length of the field and set Ethan McGrath up for a nice goal.
The K-2 West Haven Youth Lacrosse Blue Devils finished out their season with a home game against North Haven, their second game against North Haven in a row. The Westies came up short in a great back and forth game, falling 6-5.
Brady Salkins had one of his best games of the season, working hard on defense and offense. Salkins found the back of the net and zinged the ball off the posts in the effort to find more goals for his team. Emmett Hemming scored his first goal of the season, and Ben Trenchard added a nice goal of his own.
Ethan McGrath was solid at midfield, hustling up and down the field. Jax Guarino won several face-offs and sparked the attack with his energy. Jadey Hill, Isaac Perez, and Graig Uzarski all put in a solid effort in the final game of the season.
