The Elite Soccer Camps Red Dragons opened up their Spring season with a 6-3 win against the Eli’s Orange Bumblebees. Ben Trenchard showed a lot of hustle in his first career game, and Jax Guarino and Luca Decrescenzo worked hard. Charlie Gunning, Colin Whelan and Julius Stokes scored for the Elite Soccer Dragons. For the Eli’s Orange Bumblebees, Ariel Titus scored and Gavin Lenihan played well. The CT Pest Elimination Green Beans lost a close match against Lacistrong. Bastian Tandazo and Evan Lennon had strong overall performances with a few goals each as well as playing great defense. Alexzander Jones had an energetic performance with great passing. Nylah O’Gilvie added a goal and had excellent team play. Lacistrong had a good performance from Phoebe DiNuzzo and Jacob Rader.
The Baybrook Remodelers Blue Hawks defeated York Business Center Orange Crush in an exciting match this weekend, 4-1. Madden Evangeliste scored three goals for the Hawks while and Karteliena Olieriera chipped in one. Adriana Fabian played excellent on the field passing to all of her teammates and making several assists along the way. For the Orange Crush, Lila Poincelot and Leeanna Perez did an excellent job as goalkeepers, and Mackenzie Fein played strong defense.
The WH Professional Firefighters Green Machine fell in a hard fought game to Milano & Wanat. Jeffrey Walker played well in goal, supported on defense by Aiden Amaro and Evan Lennon. The Mulkerin School of Irish Dance opened up their Spring Season against the Rock House School of Music Rockers. Amari Gray, Chris Naulaguari played well on defense, and Greg Reddick played great in net. The team’s offensive ability also shone through despite their inability to score. They were led by Effrain Brown Jr., Alix Obas, Jr., and Jan Latorre. The Rockers came out on top, 3-0, from the strong efforts of Jackson Murphy and Alexander Peralta.
The Gold Cheetah Penguins for Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center had a challenging first game of the season against the Red team for Seacrest Retirement Center. The boys started the season with the spirit of teamwork and healthy competition. They worked hard and played with pride but ultimately lost, 6-0. Anthony Vogt played well, minimizing goals against on several occasions. Pierre Rosario and Tobias Warcholic both played well with strong defense. All the players contributed to a game well played, exhibiting good sportsmanship and an exciting start to a new season.
The WH Italian-American Civic Association Golden Phoenixes played their first game of the year this past Saturday. The outcome wasn’t what the team had hoped for, as the team fell 3-0 to West Shore Family Dental. Playing outstanding in goal were Victor Magana Preciado and Rafael Treat. Leading the defense was Daniel Davis and Urijah Silva, while Goivanni Ferrucci paced the offense. Playing well for West Shore Family Dental was Leo Mazuroski and Sean Studley.
The Capetta’s Italian Imports Blue Birds opened up their season playing hard and having fun, despite falling to Top Hat Dance Academy, 4-1. Leading the way for the Blue Birds was Luciana Cappetta, scoring the team’s only goal. Also playing well in the opener was Olivia Petrie, Annabelle Fiorillo and Charrisa Ashong.
In other West Haven Youth Soccer League action, Stars Ice Cream defeated Stowe’s Seafood, 2-1. Dillman & Dillman Adjustors defeated CDB2, 4-2. Cappetta’s Italian Imports EG2, led by Michelle Mora-Cyrus, lost a close game to Bohemian Body Art, 5-3. Marcy Funke, Kayci Gayle and Camilla Murphy played great. The Lions Club of WH defeated Seacrest Retirement Center, 4-2, and Porto Funeral Homes played hard against Apple Rehab, but lost, 3-1.
The U-12 boys travel team played against Seymour’s U-15 travel team, coming out on top 3-0 in their first 11 vs. 11 match on a full field. Michael Luth earned his second shutout of the season, playing the full game in goal. West Haven’s defensive line put constant pressure on Seymour, led by Sean Callahan, Robert Foley and David Smith. They were joined by midfielders Giancarlo Esquivel and Edgar Lopez. Mini Kassem picked up the hat trick for the Westies.
