The U-10 girls travel team met in Shelton for its last game of the season. Lexi Lucas put the Westies on the scoreboard in the first half with a shot in the corner. The second goal was scored by Michelle Mora-Cyrus, also in the first half of the game. Kayci Gayle was unstoppable in defense and Kaylee Pellino made great passes and helped moved the ball forward. The trio of Camilla Murphy, Lexi Lucas and Cristel Miguel worked hard in the midfield. With a controversial game-tying goal, the game ended 2-2. The Westies team finished 6-0-1 in league play and 7-1-2 overall.
The West Haven U-19 blue team ended the season on a high note as it beat its rival white team, 8-0,on Saturday afternoon. The team had a very successful season going 11-4-4, which included a trip all the way to the Connecticut Cup Semifinals.
In Saturday’s game Ricardo López blasted a 40 yard free kick that banged off the cross bar and Derick Meza was in the right place at the right time to slam it in the goal. Meza added his second goal of the game in the 2nd half for his 11th goal of the season.
Javier Yanez scored twice and ended the season with 19 goals to lead the team. Danny Morales scored from just inside the box for his 16th goal of the season. Hugo Castillo, Ty Reeves, and Ricardo Lopez all added goals in the contest. Bilal Salim, Shawn Tarpeh, Ricardo Lopez, Kevin Arce and Kevin Duran led the defense.
West Haven white team played again on Sunday, traveling to Ansonia. While losing the game, both teams played with exceptional sportsmanship. Phillip Smith got the goal in a 2-1 defeat, with the assist from Youssoupha Cisse.
The Elite Soccer Camps U-14 girls went to Clinton Friday night, clinching the league with the 3-0 win. Abigail Phelan, Ariana Izzo and Olivia Trenchard bossed the midfield, and Cassie Wadeka recorded the shutout. Julia Tsakonas picked up two goals, and Emma Walker picked up the third. Camryn Flaherty was solid on defense in the win.
The U-9 girls travel team finished its season on a high note with a 4-0 win over visiting Prospect. Kylie Gibbons scored twice while Sophia Empric and Lynnie Chesson also added goals. In addition to scoring, Chesson combined with Lulu Sebas to earn the shutout in goal. Hailey Dargon and Arianna Throm locked down the defensive end.
The Elite Soccer Camps Blue Sharks lost a close game to the West Haven Police Local 895 on Saturday, 12-11. Andrew Knuth, Ben Trenchard, Jax Guarino, Ryan Abekah and Matteo D’Elia all scored for the Sharks, while Jacob Rader and Roland Green scored for the Police.
The U-9 Gunning Law Firm Grey Wolves lost to Shoreline Wellness, 3-1. Kylie Gibbons scored for the Grey Wolves. Nylah Arthur showed good speed at forward and Kierra-Kellie Rolfe and Valentina Muriel-Parej used excellent footskills at midfield while Daniela Bazar anchored the defense. For the Green Leafs, Lia Powers’ scored the three winning goals for the Green Leafs. All of the girls played strong and have improved so much through the season
The Keenan Funeral Home Yellow Jackets played Cappetta’s Italian Imports on Saturday and won, 4-0. Madison Gargiulo had a great passing game and Alivia Reilly played good defense. Goals were scored by Kaylee Pellino, Camilla Murphy, Cristel Miguel and Lexi Lucas.
The Arctic Wolves defeated West Shore Family Dental, 1-0. Joe Sperry, Jr. scored the lone goal in the final minute of the match, assisted by the Arctic Wolves leading scorer, Mekayan Fowler. Carson Frost made a lot of key saves in the first half in net and Victor Magana Preciado played keeper in the second half to preserve the shutout. Frost, along with Sylvan Lora and Langston Golding, also played hard on defense and Xavier Nogue and Abdel Almaksoudi controlled the mid-field, giving the attack many opportunities to score.
The Nick’s Luncheonette Dragons played Oyster River Energy, winning, 5-0. Mason Panton, Andrew Loehn and Alexander Hulse were the stars of the day.
In an action packed game between the Top Hat Dance Academy Shamrocks and the Italian American Civic Assn Lightning, the Shamrocks won, 9-5. Ariel Titus was fantastic on offense scoring six goals as Sihaya Robinson followed through with 3 goals. Olivia Egraca put the pressure on the Lightning’s offense while Ava Boykin hustled down the field and Chelsea Frost had two key blocks.
The Porto Funeral Home Green Dragons played Gunning Law Firm, with the Green Dragons, winning, 8-6. Adam Lennon led the way with three goals. Mohammed Lamkhantar added two goals and Kiernan Cerullo played well overall for the Green Dragons.
The Rock House School of Music Soccer Rockers played three games Saturday. In game one, Nathalie Rivas played well on outside defense making some key defensive stops. Julianne Manaci did well on offense, and Magaly Lilannay Romero worked in midfield. Game two saw Mya Ajanacha and Joyce Delgado work hard as forwards, taking many shots on goal. Michael Tomkins worked on the defensive side. In the final game, Genesis Linares and Bella Fletcher handled the defensive duty. Sarah Davey and Asia Ford did great work as midfielders.
The George Ellis Company, Inc boys also played three games Saturday, going 2-1 on the day. Aldair Saucedo scored, while Victor Smith, Aldair Saucedo, and Noah Rader were outstanding in net.
