In the EB Boys Division, the EB 2 Maroon Bulls took a hard 4-1 defeat with the lone goal being scored by Jack Aloi assisted by great field coverage by Andrew Valderame,Nathan Santiago,Alex Saucedo and Aaron Abraham.
In another EB Boys Division game, the Green Machine defeated the EB2 Maroon team this past Saturday morning by a score of 5-1. Antonio Brown led the Green Machine with three goals. Christian Reyes scored off an assist from Dylan Petrie. The other goal came from Ethan Masoperth as he showed his foot skills by dribbling through the defense. Strong defensive play by Christian Ashong and Erik Jiang helped the Green Machine to only allow one goal.
The Elite Soccer Camps Orange Pumpkins won a tough game Saturday morning, 2-1, against EG4 which is having great season in itself. The Elite Pumpkins fell behind, but rallied for two goals late in the game. Sophie Mazeroski netted the winning goal, with support from Molly Gunning and Ashlynn Trenchard. Katelynn Salgado showed a lot of hustle, and Leah Boguniecki kept the other team under pressure and just missed the goal a couple of times. Adelicia Parise played a solid second half in goal for the Elite Soccer Pumpkins. While on EG U-10 girls team, great play was supported by Madyson Ortiz who led all scorers. She was supported by Fatima Magana,Angelina Messina and MadelineMcCarthy. Led defensively by Natalie Reed,Sarahi Cruz-Cruz,Lania Donovan and Angelina Florio. Net duties were covered by Kera Chiong.
The West Haven U-10 girls developmental travel team fell in a hard fought game to a skilled Shelton side Saturday afternoon, 2-1. Aylin Soto and Isabella Eyler combined well for the Westies, while being supported in the midfield by Chloe Whelan, Jaylyn Powell and Etta Funke. Kayla Burt and Molly Gunning both made some great saves in the net, and Annabelle Pasacreta played well on defense.
The Elite Soccer Camps U-11 girls travel team went to Shelton Saturday afternoon, and came home with a 3-2 win. The Westies fell behind 2-0 in the first half, despite some great saves made by Alyvia Ginsberg. The girls rallied in the second half behind a Brooke Flaherty hat trick, with assists from Ava Murphy and Abigail Phelan. Ariana Izzo put forth a solid effort in the center of midfield, supported on the flanks by Josephina Lakaj, Isabella Nage and Cindy Burns.
Meanwhile at the Cheshire CQVIT Tournament, the West Haven Rush U-19 girls team competed Saturday and Sunday. In the first game they battled to a 1-1 tie with a good Guilford squad with a goal by Madison Barbieri. While on defense they were supported by Sophia Wilson, Winnie Chiong, and Nile Lee. Rayanne covered the net duties for Rush. In the second game they played the Guilford Extreme, losing 2-0, despite several good scoring chances. The defense was supported by Sierra Tarantino, Sinead Connelly, Angela Borelli and Betsy Magano in net.
On Sunday, competition was started with a battle with rival Cheshire Red, losing 1-0, despite many chances to put the ball in the net while keeping Cheshire on their heels. Abby Lozon, Jimera Butler, Micaeala Owen and Grace Oxyck played well on defense. Thea Ranelli have quite a few good chances to keep the defense rolling backwards. In the second game on Sunday, Rush played a good team in Fairfield United, ending in a tie 2-2. Fairfield tied game up near the end of the contest. Betsy Magano had several key saves while Madison Barbieri scored twice to keep the game even. On defensive, Rush, were supported by Angela Borelli, Maya Murarka, Emily Golding, Micaela Owen and Grace Oxyck. Gabi Karlan played well up front to keep the offensive attack moving.
